You’ll know if you need to update to the Pro version if you go to do something but that option isn’t available to you in the Home version you have now.
If you wanted to do something with the Local Group Policy Editor for example, then that would require the Pro version of Windows 10 as well. There are also some additional things that it leaves off the list though.

I reckon the government should step in and force microsoft to display a big warning on their store page, "if you buy this upgrade, there is 100% probability microsoft will steal your money and not give you the upgrade.Most people shop around for a new computer that looks like a pretty good bargain and if you’ve chosen a computer that isn’t something from the top-of-the-line, then you’re likely bringing home a computer that comes with Windows 10 Home it’s the most affordable version of the Windows 10 operating system out there. Looks like my only option left is to reset the SB3! Time I don't have and shouldn't need to do. I have googled for solutions and tried them all, none of them worked. How hard is it to look after your customer who has paid nearly $6000? Bunch of thieves they are. Doesn't microsoft employ people to test their products? How hard can this be? Obviously microsoft are the most hopeless bunch of programmers out there and their customer support is ZERO.
I find this highly insulting, as it's Microsoft stuff up. Now my SB3 has a permanent display message bottom right corner of screen saying I need to activate and stop using non-genuine windows. Went to Windows Activation screen, but failed to activate saying the same error message as RaymondKennedy-2444. Email arrived, but no product key in email. I went to Microsoft Store and paid for the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. I paid $5500 for top of the range fully optioned Microsoft Surface Book 3, came with Windows 10 Home.
